On September 20, the New Energy Vehicle Industry Innovation and Development Conference, one of the series of events of the 2023 World Manufacturing Conference, was held in Hefei. Wang Qingxian, Governor of Anhui Province, pointed out in his keynote speech that Anhui is becoming an important pole of rapid growth in the new outlet and new track of the development of the new energy vehicle industry.
According to the "2023 Anhui Manufacturing Development Report", Anhui has 7 complete vehicle companies including Chery, Weilai, Volkswagen, BYD, JAC, Changan, and Hanma Technology and 1,200 supporting companies, and has established complete vehicle, engine, body, chassis, etc. The whole industrial chain system.
In 2022, Anhui's automobile production will be 1.747 million vehicles, including 527,000 new energy vehicles, both ranking 7th in the country. From January to July 2023, automobile production was 1.235 million units, an increase of 45.2%, accounting for 7.9% of the national share. Among them, 432,000 new energy vehicles were produced, an increase of 82.8%, accounting for 9.4% of the national share.
The mature industrial system has also attracted more companies to invest in key projects such as Hefei BYD and Xinqiao Intelligent Electric Vehicle Industrial Park, and Volkswagen Germany's second R&D headquarters in the world outside of its home country has settled in the city.
In 2022, the average research and development expenses of listed companies in Anhui's new energy automobile industry were 359 million yuan, which is 1.36 times the average level of listed companies in the province. Since 2023, there have been 5 new listed companies involved in the new energy automobile industry, accounting for more than 30% of the new number of listed companies in the province. The internationally competitive new energy automobile industry cluster is accelerating the rise.

At the New Energy Vehicle Industry Innovation and Development Conference, China Economic Information Service and China Electric Vehicles Association of 100 jointly released the "China New Energy Vehicle Industry High-Quality Development Report 2023". The report pointed out that China has become the world's largest new energy vehicle production and sales market, and the annual sales volume of new energy vehicles in 2023 is approaching 10 million units. In 2023, "state subsidies" will be phased out, and my country's new energy vehicles will enter a new stage driven by marketization, with the rise of independent brands and the accelerated pace of industrial internationalization.
The booming development of the new energy vehicle industry also brings new opportunities for urban development. Focusing on industrial policy, production and manufacturing, and consumption capacity, the report shows the development status of new energy vehicles in 10 cities including Beijing, Shanghai, and Hefei.
From the perspective of the level of industrial policy support, Shanghai, Beijing, Hefei, and Chongqing have introduced a larger number of policies involving new energy vehicles, intelligent network connections, power batteries, and charging piles, and the policy ecology is relatively rich.
In 2022, Shanghai and Shenzhen will have more than 50 vehicles per 1,000 people, and Hangzhou, Beijing and Guangzhou will be at a similar level, all exceeding 30 vehicles;
From the perspective of production and manufacturing, Shanghai and Shenzhen will have higher output of new energy vehicles in 2022, reaching 988,600 and 874,700 vehicles respectively. The number of vehicle manufacturers in Beijing, Chongqing, Wuhan and Guangzhou has reached more than 10; the number of listed companies in the new energy vehicle industry chain in Guangzhou has reached more than 100.
From the perspective of consumption level, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Shenzhen, Beijing and Chongqing are relatively strong. Among them, Shanghai's new energy vehicle sales will reach 335,000 units in 2022, and its new energy vehicle penetration rate exceeds 50%. In terms of the number of charging piles, Guangdong has 383,000 charging piles, leading the country among ten provinces and cities.
